This report may be late, however can’t be missed, as our Girls team played their 2nd home match just over a week ago against Dorking, their first match opponents where they went down. The first match was close and the number of wickets was the key difference.
Elstead batted first with Hannah and Frankie getting the team off to a good start, ensuring the loss of wickets was kept to a minimum. May and Bella remained positive despite losing a few wickets, while Ellie and Sophie really pushed the score on with 14 runs. This positivity carried through with Emelia and Emily who took the score to 276.
Elstead needed to be tight in the field and take the wickets, which is exactly what they did. 6 wickets to be precise. All the girls bowled well and kept the field nice and tight. Although extras was the biggest scorer, the wickets made up for this and the girls were able to record their first win!!
They have since played two more matches, which haven’t gone our way. The first they lost by nail biting 2 runs while today they met a very strong Farncombe side.
