Final league match of the season resulted in more of a friendly than a match, as the opposition numbers dwindle during the day. Some revisions were made, match reduced to 6 a side with Nathan and Chrissie being kind enough to bat and bowl for the opposition along with last minute call up Nicholas, while the spare pair of the batting team lent a hand to the fielding team. In this scenario it is difficult to put aside your loyalties, however I was impressed with everyone for the commitment to the position they were in at any one time.

No full report today given the nature of the night, however 6 wickets fell during the match with two catches by Jude and wickets each for Danny, Lennon, Chrissie and Nathan. Nate and Bella showed great improvement with their bowling. Big scores from Rufus and Danny and brave shots played by Chrissie when facing Rufus were some of the batting highlights. Matilda from Wonesh & Shamley matched Rufus in pace and bowled two fantastic overs.

The end result was a win for Elstead, however that doesn’t tell the full story as, if it was not for Jasper, Harrison and Matilda stopping 4’s while fielding for Elstead, the result would have reversed. Ultimately, the players benefitted from some decent time in the middle, learning in a live situation with minimal pressure.
