U15s strengthen their league position with SUPER SUNDAY coming up!

The U15's took on Weybridge on Sunday looking for a hat-trick of wins. Weybridge won the toss and elected to bat. They were short on numbers but that gave them the advantage of re-batting some of their better players.

Elstead got off to a fine start with Jacob Stratford clean bowling 2 of their top 4 batters and then a spectacular catch from Ollie Soothill off Daniel's bowling - a one handed grab (at pace) which was then grabbed with both hands just off the ground. All of a sudden, Weybridge found themselves 5/3 and it looked like it might be a quick game! as always the case, that didn't quite follow and Weybridge dug in getting themselves back in the game before going 51/4. Some valuable runs at the end (including a few too many extras from Elstead) left Weybridge with a total of 96 off 20 overs. Wickets each for croft, soothill and Waring. Jacob finished with 2/31 but another exemplary performance by Henry Neal who was 2/12 off 4 overs - wickets and much needed economy, something he is making a real habit.

It wasn't going to be a straightforward chase but, 5 an over was easy maths to focus on and the boys seemed confident. Daniel and Jacob opened up providing a good base of 24 before Jacob went for 11. Marco came and went (got a good one) - a minor blip in what has been a very good batting season for him. Ollie Soothill then joined Daniel at the crease and, together, they put on c40 runs that put us in a very commanding position. Daniel eventually going for 18 - useful runs came from Miles and Henry Neal with Ollie sticking around to make a fine 25 before being bowled by one of their spinners. We laboured a little at the end but its a results business and we got the winning runs with 4 overs to spare.

As the son of the coach - he tends to get more criticism than praise but this was a Man of the Match performance from Ollie Soothill - a spectacular catch (plus another one in the game), a wicket and a top score of 25 - well done Ollie:)

its another busy week ahead for the U15's with games against Guildford and then a double-header on Sunday 7th July - joint top of the league Royal Ascot at home in the morning followed by a 5pm away Semi-final cup game against Alleyn CC at Dulwich Common - we will put our best foot forward!
